Great out of the Box, September 29, 2011 By This review is from: Toshiba Satellite A665D-S5178 15.6-Inch Laptop - Black (Personal Computers) I received this laptop yesterday and really like it so far. It is great out of the box and doesn't take too long to set up and get going. Toshiba has cut way down on their bloatware from the last model I purchased. I think I only deleted 3 or 4 things, and the pcdecrapifier software that I ran only found one thing for me to delete. (Last time I had about 20!)
One thing missing from this laptop that my other one had was the back up recovery disc creator. You can purchase it through Toshiba, or one of the various online downloads, but was a little disappointed in that.
The "full keyboard" really isn't a true full keyboard, but it has most of the keys. Yes, the space bar is a little smaller than some models, but not worth disqualifying this model based on that. Something that one will just have to get used to, and soon will wonder why it ever bothered them! It is nice having the full side numeric keypad. That is one thing that was a must for me.

With a Quad processor and 6 Gb RAM it has enough power to edit my pictures with Adobe CS5. This also has an express slot which I use for adding firewire 1394 ports, I use these to download movies from DV Cameras. I also like the HDMI port. I was surprised at how light this laptop is and the battery life is good. Nice job Toshiba. Delivery was reasonably quick.
